At the end of the Valley of Bagnes this charming refuge is open all year

featured in Mountain huts Updated

Originally built in 1890 this refuge was incredibly popular with alpinists; it was later used as a look-out point during the First World War due to the panoramic views it allowed and the proximity to the Italian border.

Open in both summer and winter for all kinds of alpine based activities you will receive a warm welcome from the wardens Rene and Nicole Buemi, who also offer their baby sitting services should you be there with small children.

With a total of 73 beds in this refuge operating on a half board basis this is the perfect place to stop over for a night or to use as a base to explore the surrounding lakes and mountains.

The restaurant is also open during the day between 11:00 and 16:00 for those hikers and skiers passing by!

Worth knowing

The refuge cannot take payment by card, so make sure that you have cash with you.
