Videos from Verbier - Grand Concours Hippique

The Grand Concours Hippique is held every August in Verbier. Since 1997 this regional and national competition has drawn riders from all over Switzerland and in some cases the world, to the Val des Bagnes for a week of show jumping.
The paddock area is open to the public free of charge and whether you are a fan of equestrianism or not it is a great spectacle. With the whole show taking place in an arena half the size of a football-pitch it is easy to watch the riders and horses clear some astonishingly high fences, and with the sun shining and a cold drink in hand it is easy to enjoy the sport even if you were not originally a fan.

The Tour de France made it's first trip to Verbier and I went along to soak up the sun and enjoy the atmosphere.
It was 25 years ago to the day that the Tour was last in Valais and although it took over an hour to get from Le Chable to Verbier the crowds were in good spirits and determined to make sure the tour came back quicker next time around

James reports from the Verbier Ride 08, which proved to be an awesome event. This year the competition was a qualifier for the 'Orage European Open for Swatch', and with a gathering of International male and female athletes at the La Chaux Snowpark, this upped the stakes, and encouraged a lively and exciting competition. The level was extremely high, and so were the tricks!

Winter is coming. There is no denying it. Temperatures have dropped, days have become shorter and Christmas decorations are ALREADY in the supermarkets!
If you have been waiting eagerly for the ski lifts to open since May then you period of expectation is almost at an end. Although the new season doesn’t really start until the beginning of December, there are a number of different shows and festivals happening at the end of October that precede the new winter and herald in the new season.
For those wanting to shop, the London Olympia Metro Ski & Snowboard Show is a great place to start your winter season. All the major brands from both the ski and snowboard world are in attendance, all the latest equipment is on show and available to buy.
If that seems a little too indoors then a trip to Les Deux Alpes for the Mondial du Freeski is for you. Here you can test this winter's equipment from some of the newest companies in the ski world on the largest skiable glacier in France. It looks set to be a great winter!
