Town Maps for Verbier

Town Maps for Verbier

The official resort map for Verbier is, as you can see, on quite a large scale! We haven't been able to find a more detailed version, yet so if you come across one, please let us know. In the meantime, use the rotate and zoom tools in your browser for a more detailed view. We also have a more easily readable street plan for the town centre, which is probably more useful for orientating yourself on arrival.

Public Transport in Verbier

Public Transport in Verbier

Sion (55km) is the nearest airport to Verbier, followed by Geneva (161km). Although Geneva is further, it is a much bigger airport and will offer more flight options. You can find out more about travelling from your chosen airport to resort by reading Travelling Between the Airport & Verbier.

During peak periods, it can actually be faster to walk around Verbier, as excessive traffic can congest the resort roadways. If walking isn’t your thing, why not use Verbier’s free bus service? Look out for the yellow Car Postal buses. During the winter season, four routes (Carrefour via Savolyeres, Le Hameau and Les Esserts via Savolyeres; Patier which passes by the Sports Center, and Verbier Village) run daily from 8am to 7.20pm, at regular offset intervals of 15 minutes. All routes pass through Place Centrale and Médran, meaning there’s a bus service between these two points every 5 minutes or so. During the winter’s early and late season as well as the summer season, a limited bus service also circulates.

During the summer, all of the yellow Post buses that operate between Le Chable and Verbier are equipped to carry up to 6 bikes on specially adapted racks on the back.  These racks are in operation from mid-May to mid-October each year and you have to pay a small additional fee to put your bike on the bus (approx CHF 2,-).  It is recommended that you book your bus in advance wherever possible to ensure that there is space, although there is always the Le Chable gondola option to save you pedalling all the way back up the hill!  A similar bike service operates between Nendaz and Siviez and there are also a number of shuttle buses that link the hamlets of Le Chable, Bruson, Moay, Lourtier, Sarreyer, Fionnay and Mauvoisin.

Alternative transport options include:

  • Driving – Quite straight forward as all main resort roads are one-way, although the lack of parking, the traffic jams during the busy periods, and alcohol consumption can be heavy deterrents.
  • Taxi – Only alternative to driving (or walking) in the evening. Can be disproportionately expensive for how short the ride is, please see Resort Taxis for local companies.
