With the whole of Verbier shut down in May (well most of it) its time to recharge the batteries and look forward to the summer events.

Verbier is a beautiful place in the summer, some would say even more so than in the winter. Most of the days are spent hiking or biking the mountains, playing golf and having lazy evenings on a terrace or balcony with a bottle of wine.

If that sounds like it is not enough, here are a few goings on in the region to keep you entertained.

Fanf-Art is a musical festival in Le Chablé running for 3 days. 8th to 10th May

Trail de la Pierre a Voir is an extreme running track on tops of the mountain ridge around Pierre a Voir. If you are not feeling up to the extreme course, there is a shorter one for you to contend with. Register via the website. 13th June

The Ultra Trail Verbier St-Bernard is a selection of long and short trails over 10 different locations around the St-Bernard area. Anyone can sign up via the website. 11-12 July

The biggest festival in the calendar for Verbier is The Verbier Festival which is a classical music event. Musicians come from all over the world to perform for over 2 weeks in a special building built for this one event. 17th July - 2nd August.

The International Horse Jumping Show takes place i August, with competitors from around the world descending on Verbier. 14th-23rd August.

Bike Fest at the beginning of September attracts motorbike fans from far and wide with parties, demos and exhibitions. 4th - 6th September.
