Verbier Cuts Prices After the Euro Exchange Rate Dropped

Verbier is adapting in light of the strong Swiss Franc

Following the announcement from the BNS (Swiss National Bank) about abandoning the cap of 1.20 francs to the euro, thousands of tourists and businesses have got together to discuss ideas of how to fight against the strong Swiss Franc.

Verbier tourist office have announced that from the beginning of February, when visitors complete a new booking for a holiday in Verbier, customers will benefit from a reduction of 15% off the apartment and chalet reservations as well as off equipment hire or purchase in selected ski hire shops.

The Association des Gérants Immobiliers de Verbier (association of property managers in Verbier) got together last week and decided to offer a 15% reduction on all new bookings for stays before the end of April on everything published on the tourist office website or by rental agents.

Sports shops and members of the Societé des Commercants et Artisans de Verbier (Association of tradespeople and artisans) also decided to adapt their prices and to offer a 15% reduction on all technical equipment. Sports shops in the Societé des Commercants will also offer local accommodation suppliers 15% off equipment hire for their clients for bookings made from February.

Other partners in the resort are also looking to help tourists out by with attractive offers:

  • Téléverbier, the ski pass company, is offering a reduction of 15% on 6 day passes to all Tour Operators who offer an accommodation and lift pass package operating in the Euro zone until the end of this winter (providing that the passes are paid for at least 10 days before the arrival of the customers)
  • All individual skiers will also benefit from a 5% reduction on their ski pass if bought 10 days in advance (click buy online to go to their website)
  • Various hotels, cafes and restaurants have also got offers on – visitors are advised to check with individual establishment to see what they're offering
