At the end of every winter season Verbier hosts the final of the Freeride World Tour (FWT) on the formidable Bec Des Rosses mountain, but ahead of that, and starting tomorrow, is Verbier Freeride Week.

The Freeride week world qualifier runs from the 10th-18th January and gives the chance for riders to earn points and qualify for the main competition.

This year for the first time the Freeride World Tour will also hold a junior qualifying event (Freeride Junior Tour - FJT). It is a 2* event and give the opportunity for them to score points on the FJT qualifier circuit. The winners of the event will be able to get a spot for the 3* at Chamonix by Dakine on the 24th and 25th January.

The week will also allow the amateur riders to compete in three qualifier events. This gives the chance to a greater number of riders to climb up the FWQ ladder and get seeded in the rankings. The top 8 riders of each 2* race will automatically win a spot in the 3* final of the following weekend. If a rider places in the top 8 for both events, we will give a spot to the next rider below them in the second 2* race.

The cost of registration is 100€ for the junior competition, 200€ for the 2* Qualifier package, and 120€ for the 3* Qualifier final.

Lots of prizes will be awarded to the winners of the 2* events and 5000€ in prize money to the winners of the 3* final. During the weekend of 17-18th January there will also be a chance for you, the public, to try out new-to-market ski and snowboard products.

All events will be held on the 4 Vallees ski area and the Great St Bernard Pass: Bruson, La Tsoumaz, Verbier and Vicheres-liddes so you can watch as you're skiing past. Just be aware that some areas maybe be out of bounds and only accessible by competitors.

At the end of each day expect to see some of the riders at the Pub Mont Fort where they watch the runs of the day and drink some cold beers.
