Easter Funnies : 11th April 2012

by S H | | published: 11th Apr, 2012

So as the snowline gradually shrinks, the resort has swelled with visitors for the Easter holiday period. But although the lift lines have lengthened and the snow is not as inviting as it has been, there are still plenty of great things going on in Verbier. ...more

Fondues, Facials & Freebies : 2nd April 2012Latest Verbier Apres Report

by S H | | published: 2nd Apr, 2012

So as Easter creeps around the corner and we wave farewell to March, the sunshine has shown no sign of easing up here in Verbier – but as we welcome the inevitable influx of visitors to the village, it seems we may have a little Easter treat for everyone, with the possibility of some fresh snow around the end of this week. Fingers crossed. ...more

Freeride & Fresh tracks : 23rd March 2012

by S H | | published: 23rd Mar, 2012

Just as we were getting used to bare patches and afternoon slush, this season had another little treat up its sleeve – dropping a couple of feet of fresh snow for us over Sunday and Monday. Not entirely sure where it came from given the clear skies and temperatures before and after, but no complaints at all, as when the sun returned on Tuesday, it meant one of the best days of the season up the mountain, with fresh tracks pretty much everywhere you turned.    ...more

St Park-Tricks Day : 15th March 2012

by S H | | published: 15th Mar, 2012

So it’s getting hot over here. There hasn’t been even the slightest hint of a cloud in the sky this week and we’ve had t-shirts and red faces all round. The snow has rather predictably suffered though, so haul yourselves from under the covers and get up the mountain early if you’re not a fan of riding and rolling through the slush. ...more

Bring it onesie : 8th March 2012

by S H | | published: 8th Mar, 2012

As the crowds filter out of the resort after, what seems like, endless back-to-back half term weeks across Europe, we have been gifted with some fresh snow! Just as we had all pushed those winter thermals to the back of the closet and the goggles had been exchanged for sunglasses, good old Mother Nature has said guess again. Definitely no complaints though, as right now there is some great spring skiing to be had without the hint of any lift lines to slow down your day. ...more

Spring pickings : 2nd March 2012

by S H | | published: 2nd Mar, 2012

So it seems March is upon us already. As February fades into a blur of powder days and all night parties, now’s the time to look forward to all the many great events this month has to offer in Verbier. Amongst others, some key ones to keep an eye out for are the Verbier Xtreme, Park 9, Carlsberg High Five, and the slightly less technical, but equally prestigious (some would argue) One Piece Descent put on by Pub Mont Fort. The ‘Park 9’ contest - taking place in just 2 weeks on 17th March - is a combined contest of ski aerial acrobatics and snowboarding taking up the theme of golf. There are still a few spaces to enter a team of 4, so if you’re interested in donning the plus fours and throwing some tricks then contact chris@southwellenterprises.com asap.      ...more

Mardi Gras & Mercury Rising : 24th February 2012

by S H | | published: 24th Feb, 2012

As the temperatures have risen this week, it seems Spring may have sprung slightly earlier than expected in Verbier. After the freezing temperatures of last week, this week has completely flipped and seen the mercury rise on the thermometers to just about the highest levels of the season so far. Certainly no complaints though, as the snow is still in great condition, it just means we can all drink and dine al fresco again! ...more

Pancakes, Pants & Parties : 17th February 2012

by S H | | published: 17th Feb, 2012

Luckily the temperatures have risen to just above flippin’ baltic now in Verbier, and with it has come a fresh dusting of snow! It’s a testament to how good the conditions have been this season, that after no more than 2 weeks without snow, there are whispers from the locals that everything has been tracked and we need some fresh! Well it seems we’ve got it. And there’s more coming... ...more

Piste and Love : 9th February 2012

by S H | | published: 9th Feb, 2012

With the crowds of half term just around the corner, everyone in Verbier has been rushing out to brave the biting cold and squeeze in as much skiing as possible before the lift lines inevitably swell next week. We’ve been made to work for it though, as iced toes and nostril freeze have become standard feelings for those up the mountains. ...more

Freezing and Flaring : 3rd February 2012

by S H | | published: 3rd Feb, 2012

Welcome February! Leap years, Valentines, pancakes and, it would seem, more snow. As a Siberian wind sweeps across Europe, wrap up warm this weekend, we’re in for a chilly one. Temperatures of -35 in the village are being uttered! I’m no meteorologist, or JT, but I can confirm one thing, it’s flippin’ freezing.  ...more

BBQs, blood, gore & more : 27th January 2012

by S H | | published: 27th Jan, 2012

So, it’s been smiles all round resort this week as the clouds rolled in, the heavens opened and kindly dropped off about half a metre of the fluffy stuff. And don’t for one second expect those grins to fade, there’s more on the way – with another dusting forecast this weekend. It’s a great time to be in Verbier! Ski hard, party hard has consequently been the vibe around town as both holidaymakers and seasonaires burned the slopes by day and the candle by night. ...more

Powder & Pint Skis : 20th January 2012

by S H | | published: 20th Jan, 2012

Apparently there’s a front coming in from the north this weekend (steady Johnny). For you non-meteorologists out there, allow me to translate: Snow. Most people in Verbier have forgotten what clouds look like as the blue skies have stayed in force this week. But times they are a-changin’, with a load of fresh stuff forecast to be delivered this weekend. Happy days. ...more

Blue skies and skittles : 13th January 2012

by S H | | published: 13th Jan, 2012

So, as we roll further into January this week, a time most like to reserve as a period of rest for their wallets and their livers, Verbier is showing no sign of letting up at all. And what a week it’s been. January blues have arrived in the best way possible - in the skies. The heavy blizzards and snowfall that dominated the reports last week moved along on Sunday, and made way for beautiful bluebird days and some incredible skiing conditions. ...more

Apres-ski tips from our guest reporter : 23rd December 2011

by Izzy Lawrence | | published: 23rd Dec, 2011

With an epic amount of snow fall the week before xmas it has been no surprise that mulled wine has been a common thread of my first week in Verbier. A more unique (yet equally warming) drink has also crept in thanks to one bar tender at Le Rouge whipping up a chilli and vodka shot to go with their complimentary parma ham. Le Rouge is definitely one of my favourite haunts so far, you can not argue with a good fire and quality music, I literally want to melt into the chairs when I go in there and it is perfect for when you come in from the slopes. ...more

Verbier apres scene off to a flying start : 15th December 2011

by Lee Fieldsend | | published: 15th Dec, 2011

Even though we had a slow start to the season in terms of snowfall the après ski and nightlife of Verbier was off to a running start from the beginning. This time of the season is always very exciting. The influx of returning friends and new faces of both workers and visitors is a refreshing flip side to the peace and quiet of the summer. ...more

Verbier apres ski report - 24-Apr-2011

by Blondie Horan | | published: 24th Apr, 2011 So they say that all good things must come to an end and I am afraid this to be true for the 2010-11 winter season here in Verbier. The end is nigh as we move into the final week here on a glorious Easter Sunday. Everybody is packing up and moving out with most of the season workers leaving this week. However, the resort is still full of families enjoying the sunshine on their Easter holidays and desperately trying to ski what is left of the slopes. ...more

Verbier apres ski report - 16-Apr-2011

by Blondie Horan | | published: 16th Apr, 2011 It is the time for end of season closing parties as we move into spring here in Verbier(even though it feels like summer), which means lots of parties and nights left to enjoy. The Farinet Après closing Party last Wednesday was absolutely crazy, with the whole place absolutely rammed. The Dicktators led the party and had the crowd rocking. Even Lounge and the Terrace were packed and with the sun shining and drinks flowing outside, it definitely was the place to be. ...more

Verbier apres ski report - 10-Apr-2011

by Blondie Horan | | published: 10th Apr, 2011 We are in full summer mode here in Verbier with temperatures reaching a staggering 25 degrees in resort and a scorching 15 degrees up at Ruinette. Not ideal when sporting salopettes and ski jackets! However, everyone is making the most of the final weeks of the season and the pistuers are doing an amazing job maintaining what is left of our fast melting snow. ...more

Verbier apres ski report - 03-Apr-2011

by Blondie Horan | | published: 3rd Apr, 2011 It’s been high jinks in Verbier this weekend for the High Five. The hugely popular event attracted a very substantial crowd to watch professionals race the everyday skier down the piste. People get the chance to go head to head with the professionals in giant slaloms, speed skiing, fun triathlon, parallel slalom and boarder cross. It’s a huge event and the whole mountain was rocking all day, with the Chalet Carlsberg set up like a mini festival with music and food and drink stalls. After all the days racing the public then got to be served drinks by pros such as Luke Alphand, Alberta Tomba and Chemmy Alcott who were stationed behind the bar at the Pub Mont Fort. The after party was buzzing at the Pub with the terrace packed with big smiley, slightly sun burnt faces after a fantastic day on the mountain. ...more
