New budget flights to the Alps

featured in News & reviews Author Alison Shayler, Verbier Reporter Updated

Scotland may have had the best snow in years last winter but keen skiers and snowboarders will nonetheless be pleased to hear that budget airline Jet2 will be launching new routes from Edinburgh and Glasgow this season to key Alpine airports Chambery, Geneva and Salzburg.

Opening up a host of resorts in the French and Swiss Alps, the new routes will start at just £29.99 one way including taxes.

Flights from Glasgow to Geneva will run three times per week and will be ideal for people travelling to Chamonix, Morzine, Avoriaz and Verbier.

Flights from Edinburgh will be leaving twice a week for Chambery and Salzburg. Chambery is a gateway airport for the Three Valleys resorts of Val Thorens, Meribel Courchevel and La Tania, as well as the Espace Killy resorts of Tignes and Val d’Isere.

Flights start this December and run through to April, with schedules arranged so that travellers can make the most of their time on the slopes. Ian Doubtfire, Jet2's Managing Director, said: “Friendly flight times are carefully scheduled to get passengers to the resorts and out on the snow the day they arrive. Customers don't need to rush for a seat as they are pre-allocated - we want to make sure any racing is done on the piste and not to get on the aircraft!”
