Fatal accident on the Col de Forclaz
Russian family crash on the road between Martigny & Chamonix
On Saturday morning the car that a Russian family were travelling in came off the road on the Col de Forclaz and fell 225 metres into a gully.
The driver was apparently trying to park the car in a siding when it slid off the road.
Tragically both parents died as a result of their injuries and the two children (5 and 11 years old) were badly injured and taken to hospital.
The children are said to be recovering and are no longer in a critical condition. Our thoughts are with them and their family and friends.
In a separate incident in Barberine near Vallorcine on Sunday afternoon, two cars were involved in a head on crash. The driver of one of the cars sadly died on the scene and another three people from the other car were injured and taken to hospital.
