Renovation Works at Verbier Sports Centre Can Resume
It gets the green light after a rocky start for the ambitious renovation
The project for a new Verbier Sports Centre was presented in 2012 and, after an intensive administrative process, construction started. However, an opposing appeal before the cantonal tribunal froze all renovation works for months, until now.
The project involves the construction of a new tennis hall with 2 covered courts (which can be converted into a multisports court), as well as the creation of a curling rink near the ice skating rink, and the renovation of the current facilities, mainly the ice rink and indoor pool. A second phase, which has just been approved in public consultation, involves a new wellness and spa area, a waterpark and a restaurant.
The budget for the whole project is 44 million Swiss francs. Works can now resume and hopefully these modern facilities will soon be ready for everyone to enjoy.
