What's on in Verbier April 2019

April is a great time to be in the Alps. Long day light hours with plenty of sunshine, soft snow, fantastic apres vibes, and quiet slopes.

In Verbier, April is a time for enjoying the last of the snow and letting your hair down as the season comes to a close. On top of that, there’s loads of awesome events on the calendar to spice up your stay this month.

Haute Cuisine

Each year the W Hotel, with its amazing location by the Medran lift station, transforms into an incredible destination for gastronomy with a truly unique event, the Haute Cuisine. Across four mornings from April 4th to 6th, various talented, industry leading chefs will present a series of interactive cooking classes and live demonstrations, followed by an exclusive lunch with them, as well as artistic demonstrations, fashion shows, and live music performances. Each day is topped off with some amazing themed dinners in the evening. Here, you’re looking at a full experience, and not just a sit-down dinner. Instead, pulsating DJ beats and design synergy, accompanied by world-class cuisine is what guests can expect.

Verbier High Five

Verbier High Five is celebrating its 20th birthday this year, so no doubt it’s going to be even more of a spectacle than usual. The landmark event is taking place on April 6th for a special anniversary edition that will see several unexpected surprises. This is a day-long competition where the public are invited to come along and take part in a race consisting of four fun sporting disciplines: giant slalom, mini kilometre sprint, ski cross and the famous and daring waterslide. As well as the public, there’ll also be a host of leading figures in the snow sports world, as well as various celebrities taking part, giving you the chance to compete against some top athletes and possibly event beat them.

Once the four events are complete, the best amateurs and pros will come together for one last, epic ski cross race to crown the champion. If you’re not planning on competing, then there’s still no way you should avoid this event, as throughout the day there’ll be concerts, DJs, jacuzzis and food stands parked outside Chalet Carlsberg on the beautiful south-facing slopes of the M25. It doesn’t stop there. Once the day is done, everyone descends from Chalet Carlsberg back down into Verbier to continue the party at Pub Mont Fort. This is consistently every year a great event, so get involved and be ready for a fun and wild day.

One Piece Descent

Definitely not for the faint of heart, this event is like no other you’ll have seen before, and takes place on April 10th this year. Picture this: 200 people meeting at Pub Mont Fort in the morning, dressed in hysterical outfits and retro one-pieces, then all heading to the Medran lift station. From there, everyone skis from mountain bar to bar, playing games along the way, and finishing with an epic party to end the day back where it all started. You can pick up your tickets throughout the week, the cost of which include a burger at PMF, as well as various drinks in each bar you head to on the mountain. Every year this is an unforgettable event, so pack your 1980s one piece, and be sure to join in with the fun.

Snow White - A Pantomime

In true traditional British style, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is coming to Verbier, taking place in the cinema on April 13th and 14th. As with any panto, this will be a fun event for both kids and adults, costing 25.-CHF for adults and 12.-CHF for children. It starts at 18:30 and runs for two hours, so come down and sing-along.

Ultimate Session

To mark the official end of an amazing winter season, this traditional party will come to the La Chaux Snowpark on April 27th. There’ll be a dual bank slalom competition where riders compete head to head in identical banked slalom courses next to each other. At the end of the course you’ll find the famous water slide, offering a fun way to mark the finish line, and often resulting in some rather hilarious falls and wipeouts. As usual, the event continues with a concert in the afternoon, followed by a party well into the night back in town. Without a doubt, everyone will be in great spirits for this event, despite it being the last day of the season.
