Mixed weather allows for indoor and outdoor activities in Verbier

It looks as if more changeable weather is on the way, continuing the trend over the last couple of months. When the sun has been out it has been glorious in Verbier with high temperatures drying up the earth really quickly.

When it has rained it has come down hard but rarely has it stayed around for more than a couple of days.

This type of weather is perfect for biking as the damp earth provides good friction. The lifts have been open for the last couple of weekends, from 9:00 to 16:30 and also four times a day through the weekdays for 15 minutes each time. This still allows walkers, bikers and paragliders to get up high through the week until the full area opens full time on the 7th July until mid September. All the mountain biking courses are now open and there have been some changes and additions to the tracks from last year so take it easy on your first decent of the season. For those who want a more relaxed run down the mountain then you can hire an off road scooter to ride down the road from Ruinettes.

In town it is looking very pretty with relaxed crowds framed by stunning alpine scenery. The crowds pick up over the weekends due to the lifts being open and weekenders from Geneva.

Currently Pub Mont Fort and T-Bar are the two main watering holes that are open in town and you can also eat there through the day at T-Bar and through the evening at Pub Mont Fort. These places will be showing the Euro football with the final on Sunday evening. This weekend Coup d’Etat will be opening on Friday night and the Loft will be open from Saturday onwards.

On Monday evening I went down to Yoga at the big main white church. The Ski Alternative will be running classes Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. They often do two times a day and more information can be found via their website.

Last week we went down to the pitch and putt golf area by Moulin piste and baby lift. 250chf secured us play on this 18 hole short game course for the whole summer. We also went up to the driving range and spent a few hours launching golf balls into the mountain. 1 chf gets you ten balls and you can load the basket up and while away a few hours. The driving range is up by the main course, past Carrefour and on the left before you reach where 1936 restaurant is normally during the winter.

The weather for this weekend looks set to continue to be unsettled with warm temperatures and some sunshine but also the possibility of some showers from time to time
