Another gorgeous spring day on the slopes in Verbier

The snow is still in fantastic condition for this weekend

This morning it looked like the weather was going to be grey in Verbier. Very quickly, though, the clouds have dispersed and we are left with another gorgeous spring day on the slopes.

Just a few clouds are still in the ski, but the sun is shining bright. The weather is meant to stay similar over the weekend, with some clouds but no precipitation forecast.

This is great news for the Freeride World Tour, which is scheduled to take place over the weekend. Already, stands are popping up in town and the Kermesse is getting under way. Tomorrow, the final of the Tour takes place on the Bec des Rosses for the adults, followed by the Juniors on Sunday. Through the weekend there will be lots of events on, with parties, film screenings, and the Kermesse in town. If you want to watch the competition you need to get up early, it starts at 9am. The best spot to watch the competition is at Gentianes, where you get a great view of the Bec.

The snow is still in fantastic condition for this weekend. The pistes lower down are starting to get slushy in the afternoons but the snow higher in the resort is still amazing, with some people still finding light powder! All runs are open, although this weekend is the closing weekend for Bruson, Sunday is the last day to enjoy those pistes for this season.

The temperature today is up to 9degrees in town, and is meant to stay high over the weekend, with the Southern wind ‘The Foehn’ bringing in more warmth.

In Verbier we still have 25cm of snow on the pistes, with 163cm at Ruinettes at 2200m and 235cm still on the slopes at Gentianes at 2950m. The big snowfall earlier in the season means that we are in for a good, long season, with pistes well kept all through April.

The Avalanche danger is at 2 out of 5, which is moderate. Be aware of changing conditions with the high temperatures.

Have a great weekend!
