A little more snow due on this week's forecast

featured in Snow report Author Keren Smail, Verbier Reporter Updated

We had a little bit more fresh snow on Friday afternoon, leaving some fresh snow higher up and an attractive dusting of snow on the trees.

The pistes are best enjoyed first thing in the morning at the moment, where you'll find the fresh groomers. Later in the afternoon as the sun heats, up the snow starts to soften nicely. The pistes can be a little challenging mid day as the cold temperatures leave some areas a little bit icy, but there is good snow to be found in pockets all the way down the mountain.

mountain views in Verbier

The views from the top of Mont Fort are stunning at the moment, offering stunningly clear views of all the white mountains surrounding Verbier. I would highly recommend taking the lift up to enjoy the highest cheese Fondue in Europe at the ‘Mont Fort Igloo’.

From here you can either take the lift back down or hit up the steep Mont Fort mogul run to come back down. The snow here is good, the moguls are big and halfway down they have pisted the run back to the button lift, so you can really get those legs working with big carving turns.

a lake in the ski area

Lac de Vaux is a good playground for all of the family to enjoy. The variety of pistes give something for everyone there's is a blue, red and black. Amongst all this you will find nice off piste sections offering natural features to practice your freestyle moves and of course you can also ski moguls which is always fun to find your rhythm.

A nice quiet run with undulating groomers is the red from the top of the Chaux Express and all the way down to Mayenzet. Here you can find sugary snow to slide your skis through and afterwards you will also join a cat track which will take you through the majestic trees.

The weather reports this week are showing some snow showers forecast for Tuesday, so all the pistes will hopefully get a little more of a top up.

There is decent coverage of snow on the front side but a nice fresh ski tune and some sharp edges will really enhance the fun you can have here. There are multiple places to get your skis serviced here in Verbier, a nice convenient shop is No.1 situated next to the very delicious Mexican bar/restaurant Offshore.

The snow depth is currently 28cm at the base and 145cm at the summit. Powder skiing can still be found off piste and the groomers are great first thing in the morning. Enjoy the mountains under these blue skies.
