Dustings of snow & warm temperatures in Verbier

Good conditions with more snow on the way

Tuesday brought a little new snow to the mountain up high which added another layer to the snow pack. There is now a good layer of fresh snow above 3000m.

The sun is shining for the next couple days which therefore leads to hard snow in the morning and soft snow in the afternoon.

As always the groomers offer good snow in the morning hours which is great as there are plenty to explore. Bruson is great for early morning laps on steep undulating groomers. Siviez has great groomers first thing but the snow very quickly warms up and changes into a slushy fun field, this is much the same as Le Chaux. This area basks in the sunshine first thing, which makes it an ideal place to take easy laps on forgiving soft snowy slopes. The conditions feel just like spring.

Another option to explore is Nendaz which isn’t blessed with as much snow as Verbier at the moment, but it has a great family atmosphere with sledge runs, obstacle courses and tubing options everywhere. You can also find a little park here in the trees that has a nice set up of hits.

Dotted around the slopes you can find a skier cross set up and a speed test course. These are a good laugh and very entertaining. Look out for the Audi Quattro signs and have a go, they are open to everyone. The skier cross course is held in Le Chaux and the Speed Test is beside the well known ‘James Blunt’ chair lift

Up coming in the weather forecast we have sunshine for the next couple of days but then the temperatures gradually drop and clouds come in. Thursday evening snow showers are predicted to begin and this will continue on into Friday. With Friday a full storm day it is forecast to deliver us 15cm of fluffy fresh snow! Perfect for the weekend again.

Until then I recommend enjoying first thing groomers and afternoon soft slopes and itineraries. If your looking for a place to rest up and re-fuel with one of the best coffees around go to La Tetine which is right off the blue slope in Siviez. Or if beer is more your tipple the Tippee, which is positioned just off the playful Plan du Fou piste, serves White Frontier Beer which is a very tasty local option.
