Pierre Avoi via Le Chateau

A half day hike passing by 13th Century ruins

featured in Hiking & walking routes Updated

Verbier Castle once stood overlooking the Val De Bagnes valley, and is believed to have been built in the 12th or 13th Century by the Count of Savoy. To this day, only the ruins of the castle remain after the building was destroyed in the Battle of La Planta, during the 15th Century. Although scarce, the ruins are worth a visit to appreciate the history of Verbier during the medieval era.
