Record number of St Nicholas descend on Verbier
New record set on opening day!
On Saturday the 2nd of December, 2656 skiers and snowboarders gathered on the slopes in Verbier to set a new record for the biggest gathering of St Nicholas in Switzerland.
An official from Guinness Records was present to confirm the number, which more than doubled the previous best which had stood at 1200. The record was part of Verbier's opening day celebrations, the resort is now open every day until the 29th of April.
The day started with a special train service put on in a collaboration between the resort and the local Canton, then saw great conditions on the mountain and plenty of entertainment on and off the slopes, including raclette for all and a screening of the new film 'Rookies'.
