Pub Mont Fort Review

A buzzing apres spot with lots of great food on the menu

featured in Nightlife reviews Author Ben Gilbert, Verbier Reporter Updated

There are no real arguments when it comes to talking about the Pub Mont Fort being the most famous place in Verbier. It is one of busiest places in town this season and after all the changes in the resort the PMF still stands strong.

The atmosphere is always buzzing with a varied selection of people, from tourists to local ski instructors. It has the classic pub appeal, but the decor, food and drinks give it more of a unique touch. They have absolute vodka bottled lights on the walls for goodness sake, the place is cool.

There are some famous dishes at the PMF, Knee Deep Nachos, Chicken Wings, The Mont Fort Burger and The Big D. The blog writers who travel the world tasting burgers gave The Big D a 9/10 score! The Big D is a burger topped with pulled pork, home made pickles, coleslaw and hot sauce...its BIG! If we are honest, you can't find a better burger selection, quality and price in Verbier. Prices Start from 20chf to 24chf.

You don't like burgers? Well, then don't worry because they have so much more on the menu. We loved the chicken and avocado salad with bacon and parmesan dip. You can order a smaller version of this dish if you can't handle a large, we found it delicious and very filling. A charred spicy chicken tikka wrap can't go a miss for 15chf. A dhansak and a patia curry are also available. The Dhansak is a vegetarian curry served with lentils and potato. Its served in a black pot and tastes outstanding. The same goes for the milder tasting patia, with spiced chicken and prawns. For the best winter warmer though it has to be the lamb shank pie. Oven baked, served in red wine and balsamic vinegar sauce, with the lamb still on the bone sticking out of the pastry, it looks and tastes amazing.

Time to wash the food down with some ales, IPA and beers from around the world. Like the food, they have a wide selection from Switzerland to North America and the UK. Just to name a few, Brooklyn larger, Sierra Nevada, Longboard, Brew dog, Admirals Ale, plus the classics, Carlsberg, San Miguel, Guinness and Magners Cider. Any taste pallet is happy in the PMF, you want something easy to drink, go for the Longboard from Hawaii, it has fresh and crisp taste. Bit fruitier and stronger, a brew dog or flying dog doggystyle (what a name!) and the Sierra Nevada, will get the taste buds going with flavour.

Watch the time fly as you stay there from apres ski, till the late night. You will always catch a great night from, live bands and DJ's, After Ski Parties and Seasonnaire nights.
