Verbier Snow Report: 1st April 2014

featured in Snow report Author Robin Deering, Verbier Editor Updated

What a beautiful week we have had in Verbier! A dump of about 50 cm surprised us last weekend, followed by a cold spring week with amazing conditions. The first few days of the week were exceptional with waist deep powder on Lac des Vaux, Mont Gele and the Mont Fort area.

If we look at the current conditions there is still a base of 30 cm in town and more than 170 cm up the mountain. Not bad for an end of March but the strong sunshine now affects the snow base easily.

The weather forecast looks promising for those on holiday this week. The next few days are due to be sunny with a freezing level around Chalet Carlsberg. By the end of the week we might get some rain or snowfall and the main question will be what the temperature will do. At the moment it looks like freezing level will stay above 2.000 meters, which means rain in town and fresh snow high up the mountain.
